I need to center some textual content between two pictures.
The way I've been doing it's:
Take the left edge location of the correct image. Subtract the Right edge location of the left symbol. Subtract half the period of the text. (Or any layer you wanted to center. You can find the size with the scale device). Left-Distribute the text with the Align software and the collection of pixels you calculated. It seems like I must be able to do that much easier with the Distribute/Align software, while not having a pencil and paper and simple arithmetic.
One of the similar questions: "GIMP: find midpoint / arbitrary division between two points" seems to mention this is the one resolution.

1My way can be as follows:
Assuming that your two images are layers, and that the text layer does exist already:
create a diffusion that spans the area between the two layers' proper and left edges use the Align software at the text layer, make a selection "Selection" within the "Relative to" dropdown in its tool options Align as desired with the buttons within the Align device choicesIf this does not clear up your process, then you definitely should add a picture to your question and indicate where it differs from your intended end result.

I've used the next option to center a number of layers between any two points:
Create your new text (or no matter) layer(s) between the two issues (put it off-center somewhat so that you are going to see it move while you finally center it).
Add a brand new transparent layer over your entire graphic (and ensure it's the active layer). Call it guide layer or something like that.
Using the pencil instrument, draw a perfectly horizontal line between the two points (click on place to begin, grasp down Shift and Ctrl, scroll right, click on end point, release mouse, unlock keys). Make the road relatively thick so you'll paintings with it.
Use Autocrop Layer to "shrink" the new layer down to the road best. Use the Move device to adjust the location of the line if you need to.
Select the Alignment software, then make a choice the road created in step Three and each different layer that you want to center to it. The information layer should still be the lively layer.
Display the Tools Options dialog (if no longer already displayed) and choose Relative to: Active layer, then click Align center of target.
Now all your layers are targeted to the information line and you'll be able to delete the information layer.
